Bromeliads are a family of tropical plants that are native to Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean. They are known for their striking, sword-shaped leaves and a bright, unusual-looking bloom, which is actually a bract surrounding an insignificant flower.

  • Light: bright, indirect light all year-round and no direct sun
  • Temperature: a minimum of  18°C in winter and 21°C and more in the growing season
  • Watering: keep the soil just moist during active growth and water more sparingly in winter
  • Fertilizing: apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks in spring and summer
