Begonia curtisii

Begonia curtisii is a tuberous species from Phang Nga area in Thailand. It grows on limestone cliffs. Highly variable species.

In winter, the plant enters a dormant phase, during which it typically dies back to the ground. During this period, it’s advisable to reduce watering until growth resumes in spring. Once spring arrives, growth becomes rapid.

  • Light: prefer bright, indirect light if grown indoors and partial shade outside
  • Temperature: a minimum of  18°C in the growing season
  • Watering: keep the soil moist but not waterlogged and avoid letting the soil dry out completely
  • Fertilizing: feed every 2 weeks from early spring through summer with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer
  • Humidity: above 70%
  • Soil: prefer well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter with some limestone chips
  • Water: normal to moist water range
  • Propagation: stem cuttings, leaf cuttings
