Mikania guaco

Mikania guaco is a species of climbing vine in the genus Mikania, commonly known as guaco, which is a medicinal plant native to parts of South America.

It is used in traditional medicine for a variety of respiratory ailments, such as asthma and coughs, and is known for its bronchodilator and expectorant properties. Other properties include analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects, and it has been historically used for snakebites and skin conditions. 

  • Light: prefer bright, indirect light if grown indoors and partial shade outside
  • Temperature: a minimum of  20°C in the growing season
  • Watering: keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged
  • Fertilizing: feed every 2 weeks from early spring through summer with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer
  • Humidity: above 60%
  • Soil: use well-draining soil with high organic content
  • Water: normal to moist water range
  • Propagation: stem cuttings
